Okehampton ladies 3
Caradon ladies 4
OKEHAMPTON ladies' first team travelled to Liskeard on Saturday to play Caradon Ladies who were just below them in the league.
The teams were evenly matched but Caradon had some hard hitting forwards who bombarded the Oke goal at every opportunity.
Despite solid defending from Carol Taylor and Jo Drake it was a cracking shot from Caradon that opened the scoring.
Oke were unfortunate to concede a second goal after keeper Shannon Osman was struck on the head during a diving save.
The home side played the remainder of the first half without their keeper but the team compensated by sharpening up their game. Their determination was rewarded when crisp passing between Jo Moppett and Kim Davey gave Moppett the space to slot the ball into the goal.
In the early part of the second half Okehampton were on the attack with Molly Petherbridge pushing up the left side of the pitch. Oke's player of the Match Winnie Rademaker dominated midfield and was perfectly placed at the top of the Caradon circle to receive a pass from the left and power a shot straight into the goal.
Oke had victory in their sight when Caradon stopped a Jo Moppett shot on the line with a foot. Moppett made no mistake in converting the penalty flick into a goal.
Caradon counter-attacked with avengence and Oke were unlucky to concede another goal when a ball in their circle was deflected off an Oke stick into the goal. Oke conceded several penalty corners and the hard hitting Caradon forwards converted one of these into the winning goal.
Okehampton piled on the pressure with Caradon desperately defending to hold on to their lead and claim victory.
