North Okes U16s 24
Exeter Chiefs U16s 19
IT was the Exeter side who started the better but the Okehampton defence held firm.
The home side soon settled and Rhys Palmer was quick to hack a loose ball upfield good nice passing out wide let Dan Fogerty go over for the first of his three.
Chiefs retaliated with a well worked driving maul which North Okes could not stop.
At half time Chiefs bought on fresh legs and a centre who caused some concern but North Okes back row Dan Vincent, Robbie Griffiths and Will Bedford worked tirelessly in defence and refused to let Chiefs get a grip on the game.
North Okes put themselves under pressure by not taking the kick when a penalty was awarded under the posts but battled on until Foggy went over and put them back in front.
Chiefs were unlucky not to score when a kick up the wing went into touch letting North Okes off the hook but they decided to let their forwards loose with a pushover try to even the score.
North Okes had little time left and had to keep posession but repeatedly Chiefs turned them over in the ruck area but defence was solid and eventually full back Frank Smith received a kick and joined the line with Lewis Taylor finishing with the winning try.
