Chagford v Ipplepen

FOR the second consecutive week  Divan Marais scored a century out of exactly the same total of 244 but this time in a winning cause. 

Chagford batting first lost Pete Holland and Matt Bowes with just eight on the board.   This brought Marais in to join Paul Penberthy and in an attacking stand of 132 they took the score to 140 before Penberthy was lbw to Johny Norman for 38.   Marais followed when he was lbw to Steve Bowden for a superb 110 with the score at 177. Del Lammonby went seven runs later.  

Fifteen year-old Charles Fitzroy and 17 year-old Luke Mortimore engaged in a sparkling  partnership of 44. with Mortimore run out for 24. At the end of the 45 overs, Fitzroy finished on 39 not out and Denzil Penberthy 11 not out for a total of 244 for 6.

Pick of the Ipplepen attack was Steve Bowden for 2-36.

Ipplepen made a poor start with Jack Lewis being dismissed by Steve Sizmur for a duck; however, Adam Peters and Rachit Lakhmani batted confidently to tak the score top 65 before Peters became anoth Sizmur victim for 24.

Wickets then fell at regular intervals with Lakhmani standing firrm, but when he was dismissed for 66 by Fitzroy for 66 with the score at 162, Chagford were in the driving seat.

Skipper Keith Wakeham 15 not out and Jihny Norman 14 not out, played effortlessly as Ipplepen finished on 211- 9 to give Chagford victory by 31 runs.   

Steve Siznur 3-28, Lammonby 2- for 39, Christopher Rowlands  2-30  and Fitzroy with a fine all round game 2040 were the Chagford wicket takers.  However what continues to worry Chagford skipper Del Lammonby is the number of wides bowled  as extras were second top score with 41. Chagford 19 points beat Ipplepen,  8pts, by 33 runs.
