South Zeal Utd 0
Sandford 1
THIS was a game that South Zeal should have won easily. However, missed chances in the first half that should have seen the home side go into the second half with a three goal lead were missed and a sterling performance by the visitors after the interval saw them snatch the winner 10 minutes from time.
The home side started well and Darren Gilbert went close several times as his pace gave the Sandford defence all sorts of problems but Sandford survived. It looked as if South Zeal would take the lead just before half time when Harley Cann's effort was saved by the keeper and Scott Hooper's header was pushed off the line by a defender.
With the visitors down to 10 men it seemed that South Zeal would go on and win the game but Sandford defended deep in the second half and the home side could not find a way through and when they did the keeper made some great saves to keep them out.
With 10 minutes left a deflected shot from 15 yards left Reg Wonnacott stranded and Sandford claimed an unlikely victory.
