Hatherleigh Town Veterans 4 Alphington Veterans 2 HATHERLEIGH Town finished off a superb season by lifting the League Cup, at Minster Park, Exminster, in a close fought encounter with their city rivals. Pete Lovett opened the scoring for Hatherleigh but Rob Bisworth soon equalised. The match looked to be fairly even until goals from Ian Rowe (2) and Steve Lewis swept the North Devon side into a comfortable lead. Mark Saunders pulled a goal back for Alphington but it was a mere consolation, as the trophy was to head down the A30 to a place in the the Hatherleigh trophy cabinet. In addition to the League Cup, Town had also won their league group without dropping a point all season and had contested the County Veterans' Cup final, losing out to Barnstaple Town by the narrowest of margins.
